The Angels Camp City Council will convene later today with several important items on the agenda.

City Planner Amy Augustine will kick off the meeting with an update on the Utica Park renovation and expansion. The park’s landscaping plan will be reviewed this week by the park committee, and efforts are underway to bring back the iconic Mark Twain Statue to the park. New additions include the recently installed bocce courts and completed hardcourts. Some elements of the playground are already in place, as shown in the accompanying image. Plans for the amphitheater’s footings are also in the works, with installation expected within the next few weeks, depending on weather conditions.

A key vote later in the meeting will involve the appointment of John Rohrabaugh as the full-time Fire Chief. Rohrabaugh, who has served as the part-time chief since 2015, is being recommended for the role following the passage of Measure A, which is providing an additional $550,000 annually for fire services in Angels Camp. His new contract includes a salary of just over $101,000 annually.

The council will also vote on a proposed 12% pay raise for the future City Administrator. Steve Williams, who has been serving as the Interim City Administrator, would not receive the increase as part of his current contract. According to meeting documents, the adjustment aims to address salary equity issues between the City Administrator and Department Heads. As part of this adjustment, the new starting salary for the City Administrator would rise from $136,780 to $153,193.
