Groveland Fire: Impact, Evacuations, and Containment Progress

Update at 1:10 p.m.:

CAL Fire reports that crews have successfully stopped the forward progress of the Ferry Fire, a vegetation blaze that broke out along Wards Ferry Road near Thiel Road, west of Groveland in Tuolumne County. The fire, estimated to have scorched two to three acres, was brought under control within minutes of firefighters arriving on the scene.

All aircraft dispatched from the Columbia Airbase, along with other resources en route, have been called off. A small ground crew remains on-site to work toward full containment and conduct mop-up operations, expected to continue over the next hour. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

A vegetation fire broke out shortly after 12:30 p.m. along Wards Ferry Road near Thiel Road in the Groveland area of Tuolumne County.

According to CAL Fire, the blaze initially spread across one to two acres. At the time of the report, there was no information on fire activity or potential threats to nearby structures. Updates were promised as new details emerged.
