The 2025 Sovereign Collection, set to be released later this year, marks the final opportunity for collectors and investors to acquire a Sovereign crafted from rose gold. Beginning in 2026, all Sovereigns minted by The Royal Mint will return to their traditional yellow gold composition, harking back to the coin’s 500-year-old origins.

This special collection also showcases two iconic Sovereign designs: Benedetto Pistrucci’s renowned St George and the Dragon, and Jean Baptiste Merlen’s Royal Arms, which celebrates its 200th anniversary since first appearing in 1825.

In a historic first, The Royal Mint will also produce a silver Sovereign for the 2025 collection. The silver edition will match the size and weight of its gold counterpart, crafted from 999 Fine Silver. Both silver versions will feature the St George and the Dragon design, with one of them showcasing a privy mark to commemorate the Royal Arms Sovereign’s bicentennial.

Rebecca Morgan, Director of Commemorative Coin at The Royal Mint, commented, “The Sovereign has a long and storied legacy that is cherished by collectors worldwide. This year’s collection signifies an exciting new chapter, including the return to yellow gold in 2026 and the debut of the silver Sovereign, making this iconic coin accessible to even more collectors globally.”

The 2025 Sovereign range also includes Full, Double, Half, and Quarter editions of the Bullion Sovereign. These are struck in 22-carat gold, with their weight precisely guaranteed to five decimal places, maintaining the Sovereign’s reputation as one of the most rigorously specified coins globally.

Andrew Dickey, Director of Precious Metals at The Royal Mint, shared, “The Sovereign continues to be a top choice for both collectors and investors. Its enduring legacy and trusted value make it an excellent asset for diversifying investment portfolios.”
