Winter enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as fresh snow blankets the high country just ahead of opening day announcements for two popular ski destinations. Dodge Ridge Ski Resort in Tuolumne County and Bear Valley Resort in Alpine County are both gearing up to welcome visitors on Friday, November 29, marking the official start of their 2024 ski season.
Dodge Ridge Ski Resort reports impressive snowfall, with 10 inches of fresh powder at the summit and 8 inches at the base in the past 24 hours. Lifts will start operating at 9 a.m. on opening day, offering early-season conditions. Visitors can look forward to skiing on Chairs 5, 6, 7, and 8, as well as Conveyor 3. The resort will remain open through the weekend, with further updates on hours of operation to follow.
Bear Valley Resort will begin its season with a weekend schedule, operating Fridays through Sundays. Starting December 13, the resort plans to transition to daily operations. This weekend, visitors can enjoy the Mokelumne Express, Cub, Super Cub, and Red Carpet lifts, with runs including Mokelumne, Mokelumne West, Lodge Run, Cub Meadow, Ego Alley, and Rodeo. Additional runs with early-season conditions will also be available, including Porridge Bowl, Yellow Submarine, Monte Wolfe, Cornice, and others.
Both resorts will host special activities to celebrate the opening weekend, promising an exciting start to the season for snow lovers.
